humility seems a tricky thing today

There are jokes, songs- "oh lord it's hard to be humble" by Mac Davis.

a paradox; no brag just fact . Muhammad Ali.

There are many books on this, not the least of which is the Bible which I'm sure, touched on it a few times.

Managing social media with the likes, the Unlikes, the comments, the self-promotion, thumbs up, thumbs down. All can be confusing and overwhelming

We could cover the whole spectrum from ego maniacal to abject poverty or humbleness.

Let's keep it simple; I really like a quote written by Marianne Williamson called ,

"WHAT'S YOUR DEEPEST FEAR?"

That follows here:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Ask ourselves who might be brilliant and talented, actually who are you not to be? Playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. Born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. Not just in some of us it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others."

Competition is interesting and especially over the holidays or shall I say peak football season,( 1 big holiday bowl)celebrating every play even when the team is losing handily.

How do you recognize humble, quiet, reserved without passion without confidence?

Don't know their views don't make waves?

I might suggest humility makes some of the greats great; A higher purpose and mission. A vision and dedication being driven from the inside out; at some point, you seek guidance from the outside-credible sources, your team, your family, your friends, your mentors and yes, perhaps the Bible; being open yet modest and respectful.

While none of us is or act the same all the time, it is worth a core attribute of humility which blends in your strengths, objectives, character to make the most of your best self and those around you who listen and learn are lifted up as well.

Perhaps summed up in that the world does not revolve around one person and acknowledging that, yet believing that you are able to do much to improve that world. It is worth the journey to find your balance and be open to adjusting. It does not mean lack of confidence, but significant confidence in who you are.
